Your sky scares.
Some say the roads in your paintings
are uncannily straight,
some compare the human faces to waxwork,
yet
it's definitely the sky,
that inconspicuous, empty
space above the swelling woods
(another evidence of mediocrity)
that unnerves me.
Consider the woman on the balcony
in a bathing suit: how she struggles
not to be swallowed up into the sky.

Outside Teien Museum
May is ripe,
summer up in the air.
Probably the best season of the year.
Crows keep cawing
in the sky,
o so many of them.
And Baltimore has the Ravens.
